Bolivian nationalization of natural gas
Evo Morales, popularly elected president of Bolivia, nationalized the country's natural gas resources. I suspect that this should be good for the poor of Bolivia. However, I am concerned for the safety of the Morales administration. Other countries in South America that have done anything to limit US-access to their natural resources have often found their governments toppled in short order and replaced by a US-friendly dictator. I hope that this doesn't happen in Bolivia.

I hope that we keep our hands of Bolivia as well. I have a friendly aquaintance who survived the end of the Allenda govenment. Not good stuff.
She was in grade school when it happened, and she has many classmates that are still "missing".
There are no words for how bad that is. There is no economic interest so important that it warrents creating conditions for the disappearing and probable execution of grade-school children.
